Summer Trail Runs

This page updated 20 November 08

This Home Page is for general information and notification of policy changes. 2009 runs should be on this website by late March.

Ian Godfrey has made all the contacts with people to lay and organise the runs for the past three years and has laid the foundations for different runners to lay the trails. Unfortunately Ian's leg is preventing him from running and he has been forced to give up. We are all very grateful to him for his sterling work. Peter Shaw has kindly taken up the challenge and will be making contacts in the New Year.

Paul Stross has made most of the 2007 & 2008 trails available on hybrid maps. To use
the hybrids go to Maps.

Runs are for members of the Club but visitors are offered a reduced subscription for the summer months. The runs start in April and continue until September. Runners may start   between 4.30.& 6.30 pm.

For newcomers -Trails are laid as blobs and arrows of flour. They follow paths or tracks which can be rough and slippery. Most runs involve plenty of hills. Lengths vary between 6 and 8 miles.

Please don't turn up late, wanting to start running after 6.30 pm.
This is thoughtless towards the organisers who will have been laying the trail since about midday. Please don't think that it is alright if you say that they need not wait for you. Organisers have a responsibility to stay until the last person is back. Organisers cannot be expected to have the trail ready before 4.30, so please don't turn up before that time.
